Same Sex Wedding Photos Shot in Downtown Denver
When we first met Nicole and Asher we knew their same sex Downtown Denver wedding was going to be different than any we had ever done. Asher is a therapist and Nicole a dominatrix so odds were that they weren’t looking for a cookie cutter wedding.
Same Sex Downtown Denver Wedding
Downtown Denver was always going to figure into Asher and Nicole’s wedding plans and we were glad to hear it. We love shooting in urban settings. It gives us an opportunity to work in an environment that can lift the event to a new level. A couple, dressed to the nines, pop against the stark harsh landscape that an urban downtown offers. And when we heard about Nicole’s bright red dress we freaked – talk about pop! Asher looked great in a bright yellow shirt and grey vest and grey suit coat with black lapels.
Crawford Hotel at Union Station
Union Station is an iconic part of Denver’s architecture. Now that the Crawford Hotel is part of the historic building, the old train station is even more grand. We were excited to see what the hotel had in store for us. The hotel room offered the perfect balance of Art Deco and modern and their large windows shed the perfect light for us to work in as Nicole and Asher got ready for the ceremony and exchanged pre-wedding gifts.
The Lindsey-Flanigan courthouse, also relatively new to the Denver architecture scene, was a great place to make photos for a wedding – even if we did have to go through a metal detector. Side note: If you can jump ahead of a photographer in line at a metal detector, do it. We carry way too much gear and everything has to come out of the pockets. Nicole and Asher’s families came to show their support for their extremely heartfelt ceremony.
