One Wedding, Two Photographers-Here’s Why

Blog

Ever wonder why there are two photographers at a wedding? Why do even one photographer businesses hire a “2nd shooter” for most weddings? Its because there is way too much happening at one time for one photographer to get it all. But there are other more important reasons…

You simply can’t be in two places at once! How can one photographer get the bride and groom getting ready at the same time in separate locations? He/she can’t so either the groom gets neglected or there needs to be another photographer. And, that’s just before the wedding, what about the ceremony and reception?

During the ceremony there are multiple things going on at once and we are limited to how much we can move around. Especially during a shorter ceremony, two photographers can cover more ground with out being disruptive. We can also get different angles or different looks of the same moment, that goes a long way in a 10 minute ceremony!

Lastly there’s the reception. One technique that we use is lighting the dance floor. Generally we will set up two separate strobe systems to create two individual looks. Or one of us will shoot with flashes and the other will shoot with the available light for a different look. We also position our selves so we are never shooting the same photos.

At Stark Bellamy we always recommend one of our two photographer packages. To get the best possible photos of your wedding two photographers are essential. With us you get two primary photographers, no second shooters, assistants or interns. Just two VERY experienced photogs who are focused on documenting every possible moment of your wedding day. Text, call, or email to talk with us about photographing your wedding day from every angle!
