Destination: Your Wedding

Blog

Eric and I need a vacation. Even though we are far from the busiest part of our year our thoughts are turning to sand beaches and balmy breezes. This isn’t to say we feel overworked – we’re just feeling the itch to travel and shoot. Each of us has shot beaches weddings – Eric even got married on a beach – so it’s not uncharted territory for us. We are often asked if we shoot destination weddings. The answer, whether you’re getting married on Clearwater Beach in Florida or the beach in Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo, Mexico, is a definite yes.

It must be the adventurous side of us but we love to travel and work. There’s something about traveling to an unfamiliar location and making photographs. The novelty of the surroundings isn’t lost on us as we see how the light filters through the palm trees near the beach just a bit differently than it does and evergreen a mile above sea level. And, somehow, the new setting is freeing to the couple and their family. They are not constrained by familiar surroundings of home. The inhibitions they may feel at home somehow vanish in the face of new surroundings allowing raw emotions to flow freer. We love the charge we get from fresh environs as we document these raw emotions.

You can leave the photography to us and enjoy your vacation. If you’re thinking about getting married somewhere other than home, drop us a line to see if we fit into your wedding plans. And even if you’re not getting married on a beach, we would love to hear about your destination wedding plans. We’re as happy on a mountain top as we are on a beach. Anywhere other than home is a working vacation for us.
