Catholic Wedding | Colleen and Adam
When the Skype call we schedule with Colleen and Adam included talk of dinosaurs and Arby’s, we knew that these two were going to be fun. And when we showed up at Colleen’s mother’s home in Golden and got a big hug from Colleen like we’d known her all our lives, we knew their Catholic wedding was going to be heartfelt.
Getting Ready in Golden
Eric had the good fortune to photograph Colleen and her bridesmaids at Colleen’s mothers home. He made some great photos of Colleen in her dress and a mini first look for her parents. Meanwhile, I hightailed it over to the Golden Hotel to meet up with the guys for photos. This included a walk along Clear Creek where I reminisced a bit about the time I worked at the Golden Transcript. I was able to make a fun ring photo and proved once and for all that Tyrannosaurus rex’s tiny arms are good for something. And, much to the delight of Adam’s dad, I didn’t drop the rings in the creek.
Catholic Wedding at Most Precious Blood Church
Most Precious Blood is a unique church that is in the round. We thought the architecture would make for a challenge and certainly was. But we ended up making some great photos incorporating it’s wonderful ceiling and brightly lit foyer into the photos. The ceremony included some beautiful singing, tradition and everyone survived the Father’s geology puns. We love photographing Catholic Weddings. Many ceremonies we shoot tend to be short. We’re okay with that but having the additional time like we do at a Catholic wedding, Eric and I can spend that little extra time looking beyond the typical photos and we’re able to make something just a little more special.
Mid-Wedding Arby’s Run and Portraits atop Lookout Mountain
Eric jumped aboard the shuttle with the couple and the bridal party for a not so quick swing by Arby’s before making the trek up Lookout mountain for photos. We seldom get to make photos like these at a wedding. I’m so glad that Colleen and Adam have such a great sense of humor and were willing to buck tradition in the spirit of having fun. After a quick lunch of some of the meats we found a great spot overlooking highway 6 to make some portraits of the crew.
Mount Vernon Country Club Reception
We love Mount Vernon Country Club. We’ve shot many weddings there but this one was a reception only affair. Good thing we had Adrienne from the Gardner Effect there. She kept things rolling smoothly and made sure Colleen had her blended margarita in hand when she needed it. Toast brought tears to eyes and the food was fantastic. Then the dancing commenced. Colleen really shined on the dance floor and it was obvious that these two had a great group of family and friends.
